"No, it's not thunder! It isn't even storming. But that ruckus...... the barn must be coming down! Quick go see!" These words were spoken by Becky one evening shortly after Nabiel+/'s arrival at Kehilan. As then Kehilan partner Tracey Garrison raced to the barn to save the night - she discovered that is was just "Bieler" playing with his innertube. He came with a long set of instructions AND and his innertube. We were sooo nervous. Housing THE LEADING LIVING EGPYTIAN SIRE OF CHAMPIONS!! Our brand new barn and construction were finished and we had been chosen as the members of The Nabiel Legacy syndicate to stand Nabiel+/ outside his New Mexico home. But he proved to be an easy horse to care for...... as long as you followed Sheri Melton's instructions to the letter. Nabiel+/ was particular and wanted things his way. Fine with us. Fine with most anyone who gazed upon the majestic stallion in all his prime glory! 15.3 hands of solid muscle and irridescent white coat gleaming Nabiel was a sight never to be forgotten. Powerful, yet typey. Definitely Arabian. And definitely stallion. Certain horses you do NOT forget when you see them; Ansata Ibn Sudan, Shaikh Al Badi, *El Mareekh, *Ibn Moniet El Nefous, Ruminaja Ali and...... Nabiel+/. They have a "look of eagles" or that something extra. The Nabiel Legacy had been a good investment for Kehilan. Bill and Pat Trapp had become friends and mentors for life. The Melton's horses greatly influenced our own breeding program (both Jahim and Raquin are bred by Rinconada). We had paid for our own breedings by selling one every year. The daughters we received were never sold. The sons went on to be breeding stallions across the globe. Nabiel+/ had an uncanny knack for producing what the mare needed most. Sometimes a longer neck, sometimes the size, sometimes the big jowl. But almost always a different look. Much has been written about Nabiel+/ and his accomplishments in the show ring and as a sire. We will provide a link on this page to 2 other sites where you can read about him in more depth. But our memories are more personal. Like driving all night with our prized first and only Straight Egyptian mare and her 3 week old Bahjat filly to New Mexico. Arriving bleary eyed to be greeted by the Meltons and their trainer Russ Vento. Then out came Nabiel+/ and we were speechless. We had booked to him sight unseen. Good choice. Or the time we were showing Nabiel to clients when the farm started flooding and Becky was dragging him back to his stall pleading with him to hurry! He thought the show was still on and was royally upset about having "his time" cut short! Or Nancy in the wash rack admonishing a sudsy Nabiel+/ about dumping the washbucket of soap on her for the fourth time! He had a twinkling sense of humor! Simply one of the greatest Egyptian stallions...... no make that Arabian stallions...... of all time. We were lucky to have shared his life.
